In 2010, Rick Ross put out The Timeless Audemars Piguet Collection. That mixtape, especially with his verse on Veteran’s Day, solidified his presence in rap for me (it’s cool to skip Birdman’s verse). The popularity of that mixtape culminated into his great Teflon Don album released the same year.
Then Ross put out God Forgives, I Don’t, one of his weakest efforts. It was immediately forgettable.
Something about his new work though seems like a return to the way he rapped on Timeless Audemars. Especially his verses on The Devil is a Lie. I think Mastermind is going to be really fucking good.
I’m tired of JAY Z, but his verse is great here too.
