PUSHA

Pusha Man’s Wrath of Caine does not disappoint.

And Kevin Gates shines on this. His verse at the end is driving music good.

Gunplay feat. Yo Gotti - Definition of a Plug

Gunplay might be the closest thing to a Tupac we have today. He can get introspective in such a thuggish way like he does on Bible on the Dash. And then he can go hard as fuck like he does in his second verse on this track.

This track reminds me of rap I used to have on late 90’s cassette tapes.

About a year ago, Jay-Z’s website, Life+Times presented this mixtape by Troublemaker.

I had it on repeat for most the summer. Great driving mix.

It samples The Weeknd, Frank Ocean, M83, Skream, Rusko, The Postal Service, and much much more.

I still think this is an important mix to have, especially if you dig Pyramids off of Frank Ocean’s, Channel Orange. The 5 minute mark of Pyramids made me nostalgic for this mix.

Lil Wayne ft. Drake - She Will

Honestly, I gave up hope on the Carter IV before I heard this track.

Although, I dug John, (and 6’7’) I thought it strange for Wayne to put out a single for the Carter IV that was basically the same exact song that Rick Ross started Teflon Don with.
Granted, Ricky Rozay is featured on John and the track is definitely dope I thought it was a weak first single.

I also didn’t think too highly of Sorry 4 The Wait. He raps over Kreayshawn’s Gucci Gucci, and I think Kreayshawn bodied that beat better than Weezy. That mixtape in general did nothing for me. It was a throwaway, nowhere near the level of No Ceilings Da Drought 3, or the Tear Drop Tunes 2 mixtapes. Those each had some great moments in hip-hop on them.

That said, I wasn’t looking forward to the Carter IV after hearing Sorry 4 The Wait.

But then Tunechi dropped She Will and I was instantly into it. It’s a pretty dark and infectious beat and a better second single. It floats somewhere between Lollipop (without the auto-tune) and Playing With Fire. Definitely not a filler track but something you’d hear toward the end of the Carter III.

I can actually even stand Drake on this track. He’s trying not to be too much of a “pussy,” like my girlfriend likes to call him. But when he sticks to the hook, maybe even one verse, he can deliver. Like he did for Ross on Made Men, which is another rare Drake success since So Far Gone

She Will is a solid song though. I have it on repeat in the car and the remix with Rick Ross. Not really feeling the remix with Busta though. If he’s not rapping fast right now, then I don’t really care.

Check out She Will if you’re a Weezy fan or if you were and think you can be again.
